Supervised Access Services
Safe, child-focused supervised access for families navigating separation, court orders, safety concerns or complex family circumstances.
Family & Child Consultants provides trauma-informed supervised access services to support children and families during contact visits. Our role is to create a safe, respectful and structured environment where children can spend time with a parent or family member with appropriate professional supervision.
What makes our supervised access different?
We know that arranging supervised access can feel stressful, emotional and confusing. Our service is designed to make the process clearer, calmer and easier for families.
With Family & Child Consultants, you receive a consistent, private and organised supervised access service focused on the needs of your child and family.
NO WAIT TIMES
We aim to help families begin the process without unnecessary delays. Once your intake is complete and the service is suitable, we work with you to arrange supervised access as soon as possible.
ONE FAMILY AT A TIME
We do not run crowded group-style contact sessions. Supervised access is arranged for one family at a time, creating a more private, calm and child-focused environment.
WE ORGANISE THE DETAILS
We coordinate the arrangements, communication and practical details so families do not have to manage everything themselves. This helps reduce stress and keeps the focus on the child’s wellbeing.
Our approach
We use a trauma-informed and child-centred approach. This means we focus on safety, predictability, dignity and the emotional wellbeing of the child.
Our supervised access services are guided by:
- Child safety and wellbeing
- Clear expectations
- Respectful communication
- Professional boundaries
- Trauma-informed practice
- Cultural responsiveness
- Practical planning for complex family situation
Where and When?
With agreement from both parties our sessions can be during the day or after hours, and weekend and public holiday sessions are also be available.
Whilst 2 hours is the minimum booking, we are able to provide supervised access for as many hours as required. Interstate transport is available and overnight visits as well (please note that fee requirements for services longer than 12 hours are individualised).
Some families choose to use our family play rooms (where unlike other services there is only one family at a time) others choose to have the supervision in their home, in or agreed community locations such as parks, cafes or child-friendly outings. Families will use a combination of these options.
Intake and Assessment
Before supervised access visits begin, families complete an intake and assessment process. This helps us understand your family’s circumstances, safety needs, court or parenting arrangements, and the type of support required.
How supervised access then works
1. Book an intake and assessment
2. We review your family’s needs and relevant information
3. Visits are planned with safety, structure and the child’s needs in mind by our supervisor
4. Supervised access sessions take place
5. Notes, communication or reports are provided to both parties via our secure cloud records system.
Not sure what to book?
If you are unsure whether supervised access is the right service, you can contact us or book a call back. We can help you understand the next step.
